Drawers of Time
and Place

Focuses on the dark part of the tunnel. In this body of works, I focused on the way in which the collective memory in general was created, and especially of course the collective memory of the Holocaust. I came out of my father's personal memories, and my own perception thereof, and moved in the direction of perceiving these events in the memory of communities and societies. This body of the works consists of abandoned drawers I have collected. Drawers in which, in another time, private memories of people I did not know, had been stored in the past. Inside these drawers I installed photographs of abandoned places I had photographed around the world. In doing so, I created a connection between the personal and the public, in different places and spaces. This is my attempt to detach the personal memory and transfer it to the collective realm, thus enhancing emotional calm and resilience.
